Shenzhen is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, also known as Pengcheng. It is located in the southern part of Guangdong Province, on the east bank of the Pearl River Estuary, separated from Hong Kong by a strip of water. It is one of the first special economic zones established in China. As a pioneer demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics, Shenzhen has achieved remarkable achievements in technological innovation, international trade, finance, and other fields, and is known as the "Silicon Valley of China". The entire urban plan is based on a central axis that extends 2 kilometers from Lianhua Mountain in the north, passes through the Civic Center, and reaches the Convention and Exhibition Center in the south. The total land area of the master plan is approximately 100 city blocks, and the total planned building area is "5 times that of the original World Trade Center towers." The building's roof spans 486 meters and is 154 meters wide. The building is 84.7 meters high and covers an area of 200,000 square meters. The Civic Center building is a multi-functional public building, housing government offices, with one tower dedicated to a Science and Technology Museum focused on technological manufacturing in the Shenzhen region, and the other tower housing a conference center and auditorium. The building also features large shaded areas designed to protect visitors and staff from harsh weather and summer heat. It is often used as a popular vantage point for various celebrations, drone shows, and LED light shows. Nearby, there are also indoor gardens and extensive parks for pedestrians.

Nantou Ancient City, also known as Xin'an Ancient City, is located in Shenzhen, China, and bears witness to Shenzhen's history. It once served as the administrative center of Xin'an County and was an important gateway on the maritime routes of southern China, hailed as the guardian of the Pearl River and Guangzhou. The ancient city was first built in 331 AD and historically served as the administrative seat of Dongguan Commandery. During the Ming Dynasty, to strengthen coastal defense, the city walls were rebuilt in 1394. The ancient city covers an area of approximately 70,000 square meters, presenting an irregular quadrilateral shape, with a maximum width of 680 meters from east to west and 500 meters from north to south. Of the nine streets within the city, eight still remain. The ancient city walls were built on a foundation of yellow sand, surrounded by defensive moats. Today, most of the city walls have been demolished, with the exception of a few sections in the north (now located within Zhongshan Park), the South Gate, and the East Gate. The South Gate is 10 meters wide and 4.5 meters high, and its gate tower has been destroyed. Nantou Ancient City has experienced three periods of heritage destruction throughout its history, with the most recent occurring after Shenzhen was designated a special economic zone, when a large influx of immigrants led to the demolition of many historical buildings and city walls, replaced by dense urban village structures.

It officially opened on September 23, 2004, and was awarded the title of 'National Key Park' by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development on September 12, 2008.

It consists of two parts: Shenzhen Bay Coastal Leisure Belt and Shenzhen Mangrove Seashore Ecological Park. The park is renowned for its mangroves and habitats for numerous endangered bird species, making it an excellent spot for birdwatching. The park stretches 13 kilometers along Binhai Avenue and Binhe Avenue, featuring walking and cycling paths, and is divided into over a dozen themed areas, including Zhongwan Yuehai Plaza, Haiyun Garden, Bailu Slope, Beiwang Lugang, Xiaoshan Hill, Universiade Torch Tower, Liuhua Hill, Crescent Valley, Sunrise Theater, Tidal Wetland, Wedding Plaza, Guanhai Trestle Bridge, and Haifeng Sports Plaza, among others. Among these, the Universiade Torch Tower, standing 26 meters tall, became a new urban landmark after Shenzhen hosted the 2011 Summer Universiade. Motor vehicles are prohibited within the park.

Mangrove Seashore Ecological Park is part of Shenzhen Bay Park, located along the coastline of Nanshan District and Futian District in Shenzhen, and is one of Shenzhen's most popular urban parks. The park covers an area of 108.07 hectares (267.0518 acres) and has attracted approximately 12 million visitors annually since its first opening in 2011. The park consists of two parts: the Shenzhen Bay Coastal Leisure Belt in the southwest and the Shenzhen Mangrove Seashore Ecological Park in the east. The latter is located within the Shenzhen Mangrove Nature Reserve, is a habitat for many endangered bird species, and is also famous for its mangroves. The entire park area was opened on August 6, 2011, the day before the 2011 Shenzhen Universiade. These two parts are divided into more than 10 different themed areas, including Zhongwan Yuehai Square, Haiyun Garden, Egret Slope, Beiwang Lu Port, Xiaoshan Hill, Universiade Torch Tower, Liuhua Hill, Crescent Valley, Sunrise Theater, Tidal Wetland, Wedding Square, Seaview Trestle, Seawind Sports Plaza, etc. Among them, the Universiade Torch Tower is 26 meters high and has become a new urban landmark after Shenzhen hosted the 2011 Universiade. Shenzhen is an important migration stop for migratory birds from Siberia to Australia, which also makes Shenzhen Bay Park a great place for birdwatching – including many nationally protected bird species. Local environmental organizations often host public birdwatching events, providing equipment and birdwatching guidance. The Shenzhen Bay Park Nature Education Center, jointly established by the Shenzhen Urban Management Bureau, Shenzhen Park Management Center, and Shenzhen Mangrove Wetland Conservation Foundation, is China's first nature education center. Shenzhen Bay Park was originally a tidal flat in the northern part of Shenzhen Bay, later formed by land reclamation for the construction of Binhe Avenue. To protect the mangroves, the government moved Binhe Avenue, originally planned to pass through the mangroves, more than 200 meters north and transformed the reclaimed roadbed in the west into Shenzhen Mangrove Seashore Ecological Park. The Mangrove Park was established in 1999 and officially opened to the public in December 2000. In 2001, it merged with the Shenzhen Bay Coastal Leisure Belt to form Shenzhen Bay Park. After the completion of the Shenzhen Bay Coastal Leisure Belt in 2006, Shenzhen Bay Park finally officially opened to the public on August 5, 2011.
