
Taoyuan is a city located in northwestern Taiwan, bordering New Taipei City to the north, Yilan County to the southeast, and Hsinchu County to the southwest. Taoyuan District and Zhongli District together form a large metropolitan area. Taoyuan has developed from a satellite city of the Taipei metropolitan area into the fourth largest metropolitan area and the fifth most populous city in Taiwan Province. Its literal meaning is 'Peach Garden' because the area used to have many peach trees. Taoyuan City has numerous industrial parks and headquarters of technology companies. Due to its proximity to Taipei and lower cost of living, Taoyuan City has experienced the fastest population growth of all cities in Taiwan in recent years. Taoyuan City is also home to 116,000 foreign workers, many of whom come from Southeast Asia and work in factories or as domestic caregivers. Taoyuan International Airport is also located in the city.

It is Taiwan's largest American-style open-air shopping mall, developed in three phases, bringing together numerous international brands and offering discounts of up to 80%. Inside the shopping mall, there are famous brand stores such as Shitzy Chen, Timberland, Superdry, Nike, and Puma. It is conveniently accessible by taking the Taiwan High-Speed Rail to Taoyuan Station or the Taoyuan Metro to Taoyuan Airport MRT Station.

The Guanyin Caoluo Sand Dunes - Shulinzi Coastal Section is located in Guanyin District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan, and is a unique natural sand dune landscape. The most representative delicacy in Taoyuan's Longgang area, Mi Gan is a taste of home brought by the isolated Yunnan, Thai-Burmese armies and their descendants. Lala Mountain in Fuxing District, Taoyuan is Taiwan's most famous sweet peach production area. Lala Mountain sweet peaches are renowned throughout Taiwan for their high-altitude growing environment, plump fruit, delicate flesh, rich aroma, and juicy sweetness.

A specialty snack from coastal areas such as Guanyin and Xinwu in Taoyuan. Fresh oysters, Chinese chives, cabbage, and other fillings are coated in a batter made from flour and soybeans, placed into a crescent-shaped mold, and deep-fried.

Guanyin District in Taoyuan is the largest lotus production area in northern Taiwan. Every summer, when lotuses are in full bloom, local restaurants offer special set meals themed around 'lotus.' Its biggest feature is on-site production, where the master quickly mixes hot, boiled malt syrup with peanuts, then repeatedly pulls, folds, flattens, and cuts them into pieces with skilled techniques. The entire process is fragrant and highly entertaining to watch.

A distinctive dining culture of Shimen Reservoir in Taoyuan. Due to the excellent water quality of the reservoir, it abounds in various freshwater fish such as grass carp, silver carp, and common carp. Restaurants around the reservoir have developed the 'multiple ways to eat live fish' cooking method, preparing a single large live fish into a whole table of dishes using various techniques like pan-frying, boiling, stir-frying, deep-frying, steaming, and stewing.

A century-old shop located in Zhongli, famous for its handmade Hakka savory tangyuan. The tangyuan skin is chewy and elastic, the filling is stir-fried pork and dried shrimp, and the soup base is made from pork bones, with added fried shallots and garland chrysanthemum.

Taoyuan's Yangmei and Guanyin districts are renowned production areas for Xiancao. Xiancao products from these regions are famous for their rich aroma and authentic taste. Xiancao can be made into various hot and cold desserts such as Xiancao tea, hot grass jelly, and grass jelly pudding.

A popular snack near Zhongli Train Station in Taoyuan. It's a large pan-fried bun with a golden and crispy bottom and a chewy bun skin. The filling is packed with fresh pork and sweet scallions.

Due to its proximity to pastures, the Yangmei area of Taoyuan has developed a unique "all-beef cuisine" culture, with its beef noodles being particularly famous. Beef noodle shops here typically use locally sourced Taiwanese yellow beef, and both the broth and meat pieces have a distinctive flavor.
